Happily Adopted!
Killeck, YGRR #4558

Killeck got his new name when his adopter decided he was built as solidly as a stone anchor--or a Killeck! Formerly Rufus, this handsome, three-year-old Golden boy found his way to YGRR because his owner worked long hours, traveled frequently, had a parent that was very ill and no yard for the dog to exercise. She knew Killeck deserved more time and attention than she could give and called YGRR.

Killeck was brought to the YGRR veterinarian and was found to be in very good health. He weighed in at 91 pounds and wasn't overweight! He didn't have long to wait for his new home. Repeat adopters knew he was the one for them as soon as Killeck came into the adoption room. They report that their new boy is very smart, affectionate and has adjusted beautifully to his new surroundings. Killeck is rarely alone and will spend his days taking long walks along the beach in the summer or in the mountains in the winter. It is just the type of home his original owner had hoped he would find.

Happily Adopted!
Jack, YGRR #4513

When Jack came to Riverview he was suffering terribly from a serious growth on his front left paw. His family could not afford any care for him and his foot was necrotic, constantly hemorrhaging, causing Jack to become anemic. The sad fact is that his family was unable to properly care for him and intervention by the animal control officer was necessary. A biopsy by the YGRR veterinarian showed that he had a sarcoma in the lower part of his leg. Fortunately, the rest of his bloodwork and scans were clear, and it appeared the cancer had not spread. The best approach was to remove his leg. The surgery was duly performed and Jack, who is 7 years old, bounced back to his happy-go-lucky self.

A repeat adopter was called about Jack and she didn't hesitate to set up an appointment to come and meet him. She immediately saw what a special Golden boy he was and Jack is now relaxed and confident in his forever home. The remainder of Jack's life with be comfortable and without pain because of the intervention by the animal control officer and YGRR providing the veterinary care necessary to save his life. Only happy days in a loving home for Jack from now on!
